Orlando Magic is an NBA franchise based in Orlando, Florida. He began to play the league after the expansion of the same 1989.
History of orlando magic(1989-1992)
Orlando Magic officially entered the NBA as an expansion franchise in 1989. Led by local businessman Jimmy Hewitt and former Philadelphia 76ers general manager Pat Williams, the Magic hired Matt Guokas as the first coach in the history of the franchise. Formed by players like Reggie Theus, Scott Skiles , Terry Catledge, Sam Vincent, Otis Smith (now general manager of Magic) and Jerry Reynolds, the team reached a balance of 18-64 in his first season in the league. The first draft choice was Nick Anderson in the post 11 of the first round.
The Magic debuted in the NBA on November 4, 1989 at the Orlando Arena (O-Rena), losing to New Jersey Nets for a 111-106 odds. Two days later came the first victory, beating the New York Knicks (118-110).
In the Draft 1990, Orlando selected Dennis Scott in the fourth position. Scott, known for his big shot helped the Magic to achieve a record of 31-51, also making the Skil Most Improved Player award for the year.
However, a disappointing season in 1992 brought a streak of 17 consecutive games lost.
